In My Bathroom...

Following on from my little rant about Umberto Giannini shampoo amongst other things I thought I would do a quick post of the products I have in my bathroom at the moment.

Face

I'm still using the same products I was using in this post at the start of the year with the addition of  The Body Shops Vitamin E Hyrdrating Toner and Soap and Glorys Scrub Your Nose In It once a week.

Body

I actually took these photos about a month ago but never got round to posting them. S&G Calm One Calm All has about three baths left in it! It smells absolutely gorgeous as I'm sure you can imagine! Flake Away is still going strong, I am seriously in love with this product and can't believe I've never used it before. As soon as it runs out I will be running out myself to pick up another! I'm now alternating between Dove Summer Glow and The Body Shop Raspberry Body Butter to make myself look tanned and smell amazing.

Hair

Again, this picture is now out of date as all three of these lovely products have been used up! I'm now using a different version of the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, I will literally always have a bottle of this in my cupboard as I have to use it every other wash to make my hair brushable and in good condition! In fact I'm now using Aussie products all round, I am using their Ausome Volume Shampoo and the new Lusciously Light Volume Conditioner. I kind of alternate my hair care around two brands - mainly Aussie and the John Frieda Go Blonder range which I reviewed last year here. I really did not expect to like the S&G Glad Hair Day shampoo, I would never have picked it up on its own but it came in the hat box.

First of all, this is the most amazing thing I have ever smelt. I know I say that about every Soap and Glory product but oh. my. god. It is just gorgeous! And not only that it is actually in my top three shampoos I have ever used. My hair wasn't left feeling like it needed a bottle of conditioner afterwards, it wasn't all luggy, it was just perfect! I will definitely be repurchasing this.

Have you tried the Glad Hair Day shampoo?

River Island Student Shop In!

Last September me and my brother went to the River Island Student Shop In in Leeds City Centre. It's an event that, if you own a student card (which I obviously don't but my brother does), you can go to the shop and it basically gives you 20% off everything. There's also a DJ and some free drinks being handed out, and a hell of a lot of people! It was packed and a bit stressful but actually a pretty good night (ended with a Nandos, standard).

River Island have released the dates for their next SSI...

Is your local up there, will you be popping along? This time I've had a little browse on the website and picked out a few things I'd be pleased to walk out with...

Top left, £44.99. Top right, £25.00. Bottom left, £29.99. Bottom right, £29.99.

Top left, £49.99. Top right, £14.99. Bottom left, £29.99. Bottom right, £44.99.

Left, £32.99. Right, £12.99.

I'm not sure I will end up getting any of this, the only thing I have actually seen IRL is the cardi at the bottom. I don't need any more cardigans I literally have a wardrobe full but I loved it as soon as I saw it! And I don't have an orange cardi, so it doesn't count, right? Some of the stuff I don't think will suit me and I know what I'm like anyway, I'll leave all of this and pick up a million other things.

Are you planning on going?

Bank Holiday Weekends

Bank Holiday weekends, specifically the Easter one, is pretty fantastic don't you think?

My weekend began this week on Thursday, I finished work on Wednesday night and rushed home to pack my case and get my groove on meeting Sinead. One coach trip later and we were in Manchester, checking in at our hotel, meeting Paula and hitting the shops. A few new outfits later and we were back in the hotel getting ready and drinking some cheeky vodkas to give us confidence for the night ahead!! Jo arrived soon with Caroline not far behind her and, once all ready, we set off up to The Living Room for The Gentry Grooming Co event Sinead had invited me to. As always with Manchester it was a drunken affair, and after a fab night at The Living Room scoping out Hollyoaks fitties we headed to a few other bars. Needless to say Good Friday for me anyway was NOT too good, having to endure the coach back feeling hungover like never before, but once I'd got home and had a little power nap I was sat in the gorgeous sunshine eating gorgeous food from the BBQ my mum, dad and brother were having. Saturday was once again a gorgeous sunny day and me and my friend did a little shopping and chilled out with a Starbucks frappacino, whilst Easter Sunday was a relaxing day with my parents and brother again. I am lucky enough to be given not just Monday but Tuesday too off work for the Bank Holiday and apart from a ten mile ride around looking for a KFC with a working Krushem machine (I actually think if their machine is not working this should be official grounds to close the franchise down? Whos with me?) these days have been spent relaxing and just generally enjoying the time away from the office!

I was made very happy this evening by going to my Weight Watchers class and being told I had lost two pounds. What with a couple of gains and sticks my total loss now is 15 pounds and I feel back on track, with just a birthday and mini Royal Wedding Party this week to worry about!

Have you all had good Bank Holidays? :)

Kreativ Blogger Award

The lovely Lisa Jane from The Brunette Diaries awarded me a couple of days ago with the Kreativ Blogger Award so i thought I would give this tag a go and award it to a few of my favourite blogs :)

So the rules are to write ten facts about yourself then award ten other blogs with this award (and let them know!). So!

1. My most worn item of clothing has to be this unfortunately... this is totally what my drawers at home look like lol

2. Aside from New York the most favourite holiday I have been on was to Alvor in Portugal back in 2002. Nothing but happy memories!

3. Following on from number 2, the day before we flew to Alvor I spent my first ever wage on the following...

Yes a Bourjois lipgloss and the very first Clubland album - I know, I know, sounds very chavtastic. But this album will actually always remain in my favourite albums I've ever owned list. I swear to you, I can put it on and close my eyes and I am instantly back on holiday! You know that excited feeling you get? Yeah that! and likewise, that gorgeous smell all Bourjois lipglosses have takes me back. What can I say! 2002 was the year I left school, had my first holiday abroad other than being a baby and had my first job, turned 16, so many things!

4. Seriously, I have more love for this man than practically ANYONE. Total L-O-V-E.

5. I honestly can't take the fact that I'm 25 this year. WTF has the time gone???????????

6. The thought of driving terrifies me, I can't possibly imagine doing lessons again but in my head when I think of my future self I can drive. I just wonder when my current self is going to get to that point?

7. I am absolutely terrible at losing things. Or breaking things - literally everything I have just gets ruined. There's no way I can own nice, expensive things because I just ruin it all/lose it. This upsets me so much! I just can't seem to stop!

8. I'd love to live in the 1950's.

9. I am obsessed with stupid stories of the world ending - not in a good way, in a way that once I've read it I panic panic panic like no other, and will keep it to myself, i might ask people stupid questions about it but inside I secretly think it will happen this time, and when I was at school and everyone said the world would end in 2000 I literally was crying myself to sleep everynight and then one night could not take it and ran in crying to my mum and dad in the middle of the night! She told me to go back to sleep and i got told off in the morning. :(

10. I've just finished a Kinder Easter Bunny and am most disappointed with the toy. I used to love kinder toys! Have they always been this crap?

The ten people I am tagging are ten of my favourite girls/blogs!

1. Sinead 2. Paula. 3. Jo. 4. Phoebe. 5. Yu. 6. Anna. 7. Cowbiscuits. 8. Steph. 9. Liloo. 10. Briony.

Thanks Lisa :)

Hyped: Umberto Giannini Glam Hair Range

I'm sure everyone will have by now heard someone saying how brilliant they found a product from this range, read a blog post or tweet, even gone to pick up an item to find it out of stock every time (all of the above for me). The product that I probably heard the most about was Backcomb in a Bottle. To be honest I did hear some mixed reviews, some people saying it wasn't all that but I wanted to try it out for myself - if I could ever get hold of it! Every single time I looked for it all I found was empty shelves. Then one day it was there! Along with a three for two offer on all Umberto Giannini products - it would have been rude to just walk away with the one.

The three items I picked up were Grunge Glamour Tousled Salt Spray, Ditch The Dirt Volume Shampoo and of course Backcomb in a Bottle. And I can 100% say I wish I had saved my money and spent it on something else!

It was my gorgeous friend Paula who introduced me to salt sprays and not having much hope that it would really do anything for my hair, so not wanting to spend a fortune on one, I picked up a Superdrug's own brand one that cost something like £1.99. And I love it - it's barely out of my handbag, I use it almost every other day, it makes my hair wavy, smell nice and all in all proves you don't have to spend a load, the own brands are just as good. I only picked up the Umberto Giannini one as it was either this or the dry shampoo they do. But this is everything I was worried a salt spray would be - it doesn't give me waves whatsoever, the only thing it does do it make my hair look like it hasn't been washed for a week. There are mixed reviews on Boots.com - and as one person says, a complete waste of money - one star for the packaging

This shampoo was a nightmare for me. I could not stand it! It didn't matter how much I applied, my hair felt like I was trying to wash it without even using anything. It wouldn't lather up, I had to use triple the amount of conditioner after using it and even that didn't help, it felt like it had stripped my hair of everything. I definitely got use out of my Aussie 3 Minute Miracle after this!! Again, mixed reviews on Boots but I couldn't agree more with this one: This shampoo completely dried my hair out and, even after conditioning for 5 mins I could barely get a comb through.

And finally the whole point of me buying all three of these products. Again, this has basically NO effect on my hair. It takes ages to dry and leaves my hair very greasy! The instructions are rubbish as well - I honestly don't understand all the hype I read about this product that lead me lusting after it for so long!

Have you tried any of these, what do you think?

Soap & Glory

Soap and Glory have always been one of my favourite brands, I've tried a lot of products and have pretty much always been impressed with them. They're affordable and smell amazing! I bought the hatbox at Christmas and am currently working my way through the products I received in there, but one of my favourite things they do is this...

The Sexy Motherpucker Lipgloss. For anyone who doesn't know, it's a lip plumping lipgloss that makes your lips tingle and supposedly look a little bigger. I am kind of a sucker for anything lip plumping for the plain and simple fact that I love that tingley feeling! I have been through an absolute ton of these - not content with snapping up box after box in store (you can buy them singularly for around £8 I think or in a box of 3 for about £16? I just tried to find these on Boots to confirm but I can only see the single ones) I would buy any that I saw in blog sales, if I was browsing eBay I would bid on them - I was obsessed. And I wouldn't just wear them out, I would put it on before I went to bed - although to be honest this is actually something I still do. It sounds stupid but on a morning my lips are flaky and not smooth but when I've slept in this, because it's so thick, my lips are so so so smooth and lipstick just glides on!

About two weeks ago I saw this baby on offer in Boots and was quick to pick it up...

Soap & Glory Extreme Plumping Lipgloss. And now, I have no plans to ever purchase the original one again! I think this is an amazing product - so good that my tube is practically empty, I really have to squeeze it hard to get the gloss out. I can't think of a time I've ever used a lipgloss up SO fast!

Obviously the tubes are different but I think this is my favourite - I think the fact it has no applicator attached means its easier to apply over a lipstick, you can just dab on with a lip brush, where as the other bottle would drag the lipstick off. I think the taste is better too! The 'tingley' sensation is more than the original mother plucker but I obviously wouldn't say that was a bad thing!

This is available for £6.98 at the moment from Boots but usually retails at £10.47.

Have you tried this?

Fablera

Lately I can't help thinking of how my blog was in 2009/10, when I really put my heart into it, tried to do posts every day, had a blogging notebook for christs sake, and didn't find it a chore to take photos. I didn't get my ass in gear, take loads of pictures and then totally forget I'd taken them, meaning when I remembered they were irrelevant. And I can't help thinking where that hunger as such has disappeared to!

I follow so many blogs that if I don't sign into google reader one day it goes up over 600+ and after a couple of days the thought of looking through the posts bores me. Back two years I commented on so so many new posts and likewise recieved a million more comments than I do these days. I am very much the kind of person who does get bored with things easily, but I began this blog way back in 2006 and I don't want to throw the trowel in now. I enjoy looking back from the beginning of my blog, thinking just how crap it was at the v start and learning to like the way I wrote but I feel like I'm coming full circle! I mean just scouring through some of the posts I have literally no idea how I managed to post as many posts as I did then or how I even got ideas to write about certain posts because now, well, I just have no imagination it seems. I know it's not like a written rule how often you have to post but I guess what I'm saying is I just wish I had the drive I did a few years back.

Do you ever feel the same way?

Looking back on my older posts, ones like this and this were the ones I enjoyed doing, so I'm going to try and take inspiration from my old self and re-start them again lol. (Although odds on how long it will take before this too bores me?)  So here goes with the 'Fablera' post.

Greys Anatomy

As I write this I feel like some kind of family trauma has happened tonight, I cried so much at this. I'm only on Season 2, well I finished it tonight, but I love it! The only thing is I'm getting it from Love Film and I think this is one of those TV shows I need to have the DVD of to watch whenever the mood takes me, so I suspect I'll be purchasing these soon!

Easter Eggs

We all know these are not the eggs I am talking about, although I think these would be a much better way to spend my time, rather than eating eggs. I've gone ages without being even bothered about this impending Easter Sunday but  with two small Cadburys eggs taunting a boring me I couldn't resist!

America

Not that this is ever away from my list of loves in life, but clearing some old notebooks and papers at the weekend I found a list I'm compiled last year of all the places in America I would like to someday visit and it set me off scouring photographs until I was tired.

Hope you have had a fablera day xxx

And if I share with you my story would you share your dollar with me

Bonsoir girls

* picture from weheartit

I hope Monday has been good to you! Today went as well as could be expected, it was a very sad day, I can't say I've been to many funerals before, just the one in fact six months ago tomorrow which is so strange, I don't want to make plans to go to any more any time soon. My mum joked she was a professional mourner, it wouldn't matter whos funeral she went to she would still cry as though they were close to her and I think the same can be safely said for me. I've got into a habit of watching Greys Anatomy lately and crying at almost every episode. I have the last epi of season two to come this week then I'm going to hold off from 3 as I really want to begin watching Mad Men and The Wire.

Yesterday was spent sat in the garden pretty much all day. I wanted to finish the book I was reading, This Charming Man by Marian Keyes, which I did, I began reading The Accidental Family this morning. Having a book up in my face all of yesterday somehow blanked my memory from the boiling hot sun and I totally burnt the fronts of both of my legs. I had cropped leggings on up to my knees so from there downwards looks horrible and is sosososo painful!! I don't think I will get a beach holiday this year, I didn't get one last year either and I really want to go but I have New York booked in November and need to save up money for that, so this weekends sun has been a welcome addition to my weekend! I have heard that is it now though and it is April Showers ftw :(

Does anybody watch Waking The Dead? It was the final episode tonight ever and I am gutted about it! I am a huge fan of the show and Trevor Eve...silver fox fo show....

LOL I just googled for a picture of him and there was one further down the page and I was thinking wow, look how diff he looked when he was younger! Then I realised it was Richard Madely haha...think its time for bed! Anyway yeah Waking The Dead ended tonight, I always hate when shows come to an end, I feel strangely sad, I don't know if I'd just prefer it if they never came back for another series. Did you watch?

I think if funds allow this week I might take a trip to Lush. There are a few things I would like to pick up and I spotted this soap on their website earlier which is bound to smell good, £5 and profits go towards Japan Aid...

Reading this week: Kelly and Sofia

l-l-lady luck i need a little light

Apologies for the MIA behaviour in the past two weeks. My Nannie passed away on the 27th March and I haven't particularly been in the mood lately for blogging/keeping up. Need to throw myself back into it!

A few pictures from my phone that have been taken since the last time I wrote (or that I meant to post and forgot!).

Got lots of plans of posts in my head but April is seriously the buisest month ever, I have so much going on right now! Not particularly looking forward to this upcoming week as Monday is my Nannies funeral. Wednesday is yet another friends birthday and Saturday will be the night ou for the which I could do without to be honest for money reasons but trying to be postive about it and look forward to it! What is this week bringing for you?
