True Colours

A few weeks before I knew the Viva Glam Gaga and Viva Glam Cyndi lipsticks/glosses were going to end I made a snap decision to pick Cyndi up. As eagle eyed Sinead pointed out in my storage post I have indeed stocked up on the Gaga version and have three of those, I thought it was only right that I buy Cyndi too.

Admittadly I haven't worn it that many times since I have bought it but it is a pretty wearable red colour that is a welcome addition to my ever expanding lipstick collection!

Did you pick Cyndi up?

Sunday 011

Evening lovlies

Hope you are all well. I'm about to call it a night ready for my Manchester adventure with Sinead tomorrow! Yes we are going to see:

Along with some shopping, eating and drinking along the way! Once tomorrow arrives I'll be looking forward to it immensely but right now I am stressed at my stupid little suitcase and what outfits to wear! I am such a stresshead!

A couple few other things making me happy this last week:

I did not purchase the much mentioned Groupon voucher (where you paid £9 and in return received a £20 voucher to spend at ASOS, therefore saving you a cool eleven quid!) although I wanted to (times are hard!) but I have been picking up some cans of diet coke to get me through stressful situations! If you pick up a can that has lip prints on it, under the ring pull you'll find a code. Register on Coke Zone, enter the code and see what you win - there are some pretty good money off vouchers, I've only got these ones so far though!

I think these are great, especially since ASOS have started doing NARS make up which is something I really want to try! Although I suppose I should buy some new clothes for work really. The ASOS 'Working Wardrobe' section is my favourite bit to look at!

There have been a couple of free listing days lately (including today!) and I've put around 8 things on each time and every item has sold (OK, I lie, the Busted Live DVD didn't sell but it totally had watchers each time) which made me really happy! The biggest surprise was I literally managed to clear out stuff I did not think people would buy. Remember when I lost my camera? I'd only just bought it so of course I had the leads, charger etc, I just decided to put the charger on for £3 starting bid and free P+P and it rose to over £10! I also sold another camera charger for an old camera I have - I have been collecting chargers wherever I can find them now as they are always the kind of thing I usually just bin! Aside from making money, I then went and spent some on a bag - the 'Wangalike' Vipxo first mentioned. A hell of a lot of bloggers have since bought this so I won't bore you but it is most definitely love -

My camera is so crap, the bag looks 10 x better than that - I recommend you click HERE to look at the gorgeous Phoebe's photos which are brilliant! My only gripe with it was no longer strap but I easily changed that by adding a strap from another bag I have! LOVE. Here's the original listing. I kinda want a grey one as well...

Reading always makes me happy but this week I finished I Heart Paris, and am halfway through I Remember You, which I'm loving. Sometimes there really is nothing better than curling up with a book. On Thursday I spent my lunch hour curled on a comfy armchair in Starbucks, reading and I loved it. Of course if would have been a million times better if the man behind the counter hadn't messed up my order and given me something rank to drink but thats by the by...

Have you been up to anything this weekend?

Sunday 010

Constantly getting giddy for the new Harry Potter film this year #geek

Lusting over Paris this month (and that body)

Laptop bag that I've been meaning to show you for a while - I bought it in the Accessorize sale at the beginning of February when I was supposed to be buying presents for a friend - it was only £8!

I've been a bit quite this week and haven't read barely any blogs, mainly for one reason - I'M SO TIRED!!! I don't know why, but I feel knackered ALL the time and it is so annoying. On Friday I slept at a friends, someone I haven't really seen or spoken to this year so what should have been a good catch up over food and DVD's was actually a chat over a Chinese with a film on in the background and then sleeping. We were both tired so thankfully it wasn't just me but we went to bed earlier than her 6 year old sister! It was intended to be a 'power nap' but it ended up being a full on sleep from 9 pm until 2 in the morning when weirdly we both awoke at the same time for a little bit of chocolate, drink of pop, about 15 minutes of conversation then back down till quart to ten the next morning. I thought that would be good for me and would have caught me up but no, last night I couldn't even manage to stay awake to watch CSI NY and went to bed at 10 till 11 this morning! And I've still been yawning all day. Does anyone else get unexplaindly tired?!

I had a lovely treat from Aussie this week which actually pretty much scared the hell out of me! I received an email saying my balloon would be arriving that morning and pretty much dismissed it as junk until I saw my full address at the bottom at which point I started really panicking that someone had nicked my address! I made my Mum open the box as I was at work but as she saw the purple she knew it was an Aussie gift!

Weighing the balloon down was a bottle of Aussome Volume Lusciously Light Conditioner which smells absolutely amazing (nothing new there!) It sounds like the start of a new challenge from Aussie which makes me very happy indeed, I will be choosing to boost my body and soul and join the Lusciously Lighter Self clan! What did you choose?

To add more excitement, Aussie are offering 10 community members be a part of the action. In order to enter this competition, you will need to do it via a blog post on your own blog. Then tweet the link to the lovely ladies at @yummyhair! The question?

"Put a spring in your spring! Tell us, how would you lighten up your life? #AussieLight"

This is open until Sunday 20 March 2011 so you have a week to get entering! winners will be chosen "based on the most creative response that reflects the Aussie spirit. This means videos, pictures, stories, even songs can be used, just as long as you answer the question".

Will you be entering? I really can't recommend entering enough, I have definitely made friends for life thanks to the numerous events I have been to and am more thankful that you will ever know! Be sure to let me know if you enter.

Salami Pasta

Hi lovers

Hope you have all had good weekends! My Sunday has been quite productive, managed to sell some things on eBay and also sorted out a few other bits to put on there when they next do a free listings. I also made my lunches for the next couple of days and thought I would show you what it is - I took the recipe from a Nigella cookbook (the latest one) and have made it a couple of times now. I do enjoy reading cooking blogs and random posts about food so before I began making this I thought I would take some photos and pop them on here.

Small Pasta with Salami

300g ditalini or mezzi tubetti pasta (when I first made this I could not for the life of me find this so I just got some macaroni pasta, I don't suppose it particularly matters what pasta you use!)

75g Salami (about 15 slices)
1 can of chopped tomatoes (400g)
1 can of cannellini beans (400g)
2 tablespoons of butter (30g)
1 Bouquet Garni

First of all, bring some water to boil for the pasta. The recipe says to 'salt generously' but I don't - to be honest I use an absolute ton of salt on every meal (I even sometimes just put salt on a plate and Nando's sauce and just wipe it off with my fingers...I am so bad :/) so if I don't usually use salt somewhere I leave it out! Put your pasta in and then cut the salami into strips, placing them in a pan on a medium heat.

While your two pans are cooking, drain the can of cannellini beans. Does anyone else physically retch when opening a tin of these? I absolutely hate the smell!

After one or two minutes of the salami cooking pour the tin of tomatoes in along with it. The recipe then says to slosh some water in the empty can and pour 1/2 into the pan but I only put a small amount of water in, perhaps 1/4 of the can, I find it too watery with half a can.

Drop in 1 tablespoon of butter, stirring well, then add your drained (smelly) beans. Finally, add your bouquet garni and just leave to bubble away.

Once the pasta is cooked Nigella says to take a small cup of the water the pasta was cooking in before draining, that way if your finished product needs it you can add some more. I again don't bother with this - I am not a fan of pasta dishes that are really watery and saucy, I prefer thicker consistencies, Once the pasta is drained transfer it into your sauce and give it a good stir to make sure all the salami doesn't end up at the bottom! Leave to stand for two minutes. If you wish to add the remaining butter do so now - I don't add another one, I never put butter with my pasta and just think especially when I'm trying to count my Weight Watchers points it just adds to it, I personally can't tell the difference.

The recipe makes four servings and I think it's such an easy thing to make - it's literally a ten minute job and it's perfect to box up and take for lunches if you prefer a fuller dinner. I think it would be just really easy to adept as well, I keep wanting to try pepperoni in place of salami just as pepperoni is more tastier and adds a bit more spiciness to it, I personally think salami is very plain and when I'm eating this I add loads of salt. I really need to work on stopping this salt problem!

For anyone interested and on Weight Watchers, I pointed the food up and worked it out at around 11 pro points. I can have 30 pro points a day and I know, for instance, my mum will have her breakfast and then for lunch just have fruit and yoghurt, but I prefer to have a larger lunch, once I've eaten my tea I don't eat after that so in an average day I have around 5 points for breakfast, around 11 on lunch, 11 on dinner and then the remaining I might have a WW bar at work. So this might be a bit too high in points for someone to have at lunch but I find it just right!

Please let me know if you liked this kind of a post, and whether you've tried/will try this meal!

Dreaming of You

One of the things I am loving in shops at this present time is the colours - royal blues, gorgeous corals, floral prints. There are literally so many things I could spend my money on right now! I decided to do a post showing you some of my favourite things in shops at the moment, all coral colours as this is appealing to me most! I actually thought New Look would be my favourite as in store I feel like I'd like to do a kind of Supermarket Sweep type thing, but when I looked online not a lot appealed to me. I had a look on Dorothy Perkins, River Island, and, the one I loved most and felt depressed at the thought of not being able to spend a bomb, Topshop!

Dorothy Perkins

River Island

The River Island bag I spotted ages ago when it came out, and I wanted to buy it straight away. I think it's beautiful, I thought it was more peachy IRL though from memory, I'm a little obsessed with crossover bags at the moment and it looks bit enough to be able to hold your (matching) purse and make up! The crossover bag I have barely holds anything which is so annoying. But now I've browsed Topshop I think I like their bag a bit better - it's not as girly, not as pretty, but it looks kinda perfect for everyday use. I'm turning into a bag obsessive :/ I absolutely love the girly dress, it will look so pretty in Summer. As you can probably tell I am loving blouses at the moment, they are everywhere and so pretty! I love the long grandad one from Topshop - it would look fab with a pair of leggings and heels dressed up.

Which shops are you loving at the moment?

Saturday 009

It only feels like two minutes ago I was writing this last Saturday! It is currently so freezing that even though the heating is on full I am sat in a jumper and hoody shivering. I wanted to try start doing a Saturday FOTD at the beginning of each Saturday post but the camera on my battery is dead. The above picture was taken on Wednesday night when I went out for drinks and a curry. I had a good night but spent money I shouldn't have, went way overboard on the wine and suffered for it the next day, the no drinking pop ban had to end as two bottles of orange lucazade, a bottle of fanta and a can of pepsi max later I realised I clearly need carbonated drinks to bring me round!

After two 'sessions' this week, meaning two days where I could barely focus at work, so tired and hungover, I was looking forward to having a lie in this weekend but instead I dragged myself up to be in Leeds for 9.30 to meet Kelly as I bought this beauty from her...

Pinched the piccie from Kelly when she was selling it as my battery is dead, but I love it! Can't wait to start using it, I've literally been wanting one for an age!

Fanta and Crispy Rolls; practically all I ate and drank last weekend / Barry M Pink Flamingo, ASOS Double Cross Ring and new turquoise stone / What I've been eating for breakfast every day this week; Activia raspberry yogurt, small amount of Jordans Crunchy Oats and handful of dried cranberries / Seating plan for Leeds Grand Theatre; Jason Donovan is in The Sound of Music in June and I HAVE to go / Leftover murgh and potatoe curry and a naan bread from Wednesday, so Thursday's lunch!

How is everyones Saturday going?

Toxic Nature

I was just sorting through my emails and found the press release for Illamasqua's latest collection, Toxic Nature. I thought the pictures were beautiful and the collection is looking equally as good!

Unpredictable, uncharted and unnatural, Illamasqua unleashes Toxic Nature for Spring/Summer 2011, a colour collection born from a visionary concept of nature fighting back against the genetically modified society that plunders it.Like nature itself, it’s not all sweetness and light. Shades of mint, mushroom, plum, orange and rose are distorted with rich textures and pops of acid-infused brightness that command attention and draw you in…

My eyes are being drawn to the first two nail varnishes and that fushia pink lipgloss! The collection consists of two lipsticks (Atomic and Flare, £15 each), two sheer lipglosses (Torture and Divine - Divine is the bright pink one, and from looking at the orange one I wouldn't pick it up but it is described as a 'coral peach' and that sounds like something I would want...I think I need to see this on a counter first! Both are £13).

There are five nail polishes and I can't wait to see the pictures of them all - Purity (peach, and pictured above looks amazing), Bacterium (a pearlescent ash ochre), Radium (acidic lime shimmer), Stagnate (grey mauve) and Gamma (neon orange) and all are £13.50. I will definitely be picking some of these up - I love the nails on these two pictures.

Illamasqua are also spoiling us with the release of a brand new product - cream pigments. They retail at £17 and are available in 6 colours.

Along with the nail varnishes, the other thing I am getting excited about in the release of a new colour of Precision Ink. I was lucky enough to be sent this in the colour Abyss back last year with the release of another collection and absolutely love it. I don't think I would have originally picked it up as to say I can't really put eyeliner on my lids £17 is a bit high but now I have been using this I love it and will not hesitate to pick up the new release later this month!

Have you got your eye on anything? The collection is released on 10 March (online only, 17 March at counters) BUT there is a competition for three lucky people to win their favourite three products before the release! All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is register at Illamasqua online and add yourself to the waiting list for your favourite products! Good luck if you enter..I have just done my selection!

A few of you said you would like to see how I am currently storing my make up so I took some photos at the weekend and I actually forgot to take a picture of the drawers themselves! They are from Ikea and are from the same range as this:

but in a thinner taller version with drawers instead of cupboards. There are six drawers and I cannot find a picture on the website of it so not sure if they don't sell it anymore or something.

In the top drawer I keep all my blushers, foundations, all facial make up products.

All my most used things are to the front in a neat order...the rest is just thrown messily in the back!

The second drawer holds all my eye make up:

I try and keep my many eyeliners in a colour co-ordinated kind of order but it always gets messed up after about a day...eyeliners are what I buy so many of and then forget all about them.

My third drawer is full of palettes and random stuff, tablets etc...

I've also go this which I meant to blog about ages ago, I got it when I went to the Vintage Fair in Haworth back in August. It's an old powder compact and I really want to use it but I never get round to sorting it out!

Aside from one drawer full of notepads and stuff, the remaining two drawers are holding lipsticks and nail varnishes.

I'm extremely anal about the way I store my make up as in keeping brands together, and in most cases keeping the boxes - I think this looks so much nicer all lined up in boxes rather than just the lipsticks lined up! This way of keeping them is so much better than how I had them before as I can see what I have as soon as I open the drawer!

Looking back on that last post I did in August I'm a little shocked at how much my collection has grown since then...I had no idea I had spent so much money on make up since I moved home. Bit of  a wake up call!

Don't forget to link me to your storage posts so I can see how you store yours! Hope you didn't find this too boring!

Tuesday, 1 March 2011

Seriously, I cannot believe we are in March already. It is getting brighter on a night and today, although it was cold it was lovely and sunny. I had a gorgeous lunch sat in the park reading my book, I loved it.

I went to Weight Watchers tonight and, fully expecting to have put weight on after OD'ing on Milky Way Crispy Rolls or whatever they're called, found out I had lost 1 and a half! My total weight loss now is 13 pounds in 7 weeks perhaps, need to lose one more pound next week and I have my first stone award = very happy! Having a little treat by way of homemade rocky road tonight, although I feel really sick now :/

It looked a total mess after I'd cut it so I took a photo before hand!

I'm going out tomorrow night after work for a few drinks, some food and lots of laughs. Really looking forward to it but unsure of what to wear!

Have you had good Tuesdays? xxx
