Aussie Volume Tribe Weekender!

I have been looking forward to the Aussie Volume Tribe Party for AGES!! I booked half day on Thursday (the day of the party) from work and the Friday off, and booked into the Travel Lodge in Manchester, sharing a room with the gorgeous Sinead (@daintydollymix) and the beautiful Paula (@Sweetcheeks1910). I met Sinead at the station and we jumped on the first train that arrived at the platform - it wasn't until the doors closed we realised we were on the wrong train, as it was only 25 past 1 and our train wasn't due to leave until 1.40! Much swearing (and laughing) was done until the driver said we were on the train that went to Manchester Airport, stopping at Picadilly first, meaning we could relax a little bit! Although we were scared what the conductor would say to us, but he never came round so all in all it was just another laugh of the weekend! (I know it was over Thursday/Friday, but I'm just going to refer to it as a weekend, its two days, its the same thing!!) We got off the train and met with another Sinead (@ditzymakeup), Steph (@Steph0188) and Catherine (@perfectlpolished) and waited for Briony (@BrionyLou) and Phoebe (@Phibster). We then made our way to the hotel where Paula was waiting for us and checked into our rooms. After a quick unpack (well, unpack for Sinead and Paula, for me it was more like thrown everything everywhere but the place it should be) we met up again, took a quick piccie...

...and headed out to go get some foooood and do some shopping!! After a couple of hours we headed back to the hotel to begin getting ready for our night of fun fun fun!

Heading into the reception we met gorgeous Liloo (@tsunami) and all had a little chat whilst waiting for taxis to Bluu Bar (sp) in the Northern Quarter. We made our way downstairs to our private room, where we met up with Daisy (@prettygreentea) and her friend Gemma, Caroline (@Caroline1985) and her friend Katie, Jennifer and her sister Sarah (@Jenifer1986 and @Sarahbabylove), Jen and her two friends (@_alittlebird) and ... I think that was it for the Angels? The lovely Lauren (@Laurenmcbride) came with her friend a little later, as did Jo (@sweetmissjo) with her cousin and friend. Emma and Lisa were there as well as Nicola (@NicolaJ88) (horndog!) and the hair stylists, Amber Rose and Zara. After being handed a glass of champagne the night began! Everyone chatting and drinking, there was a fantastic singer as well called Shola, who was soo lovely :) Jenifer was used as a demonstration to show what the products we were given in our bags that night could achieve, and left with a fabulous hairdo!

My boobs were uncontrollable in my dress and everytime Liloo came near me she said in her sexy French accent "Oh hello! My name is Carlito86 and I am English!" Whilst grabbing her boobs - I have not laughed so much in one night!!

Paula had a lovely updo done for her which really suited her! I chose to have my hair done like lovely Nicola, a bit of oomph up top!

After Shola had sung a set on her own it was time for her to hand the mics over to us for a bit of karaoke! Our table wouldn't let go of it and sang almost every song, which must have annoyed some people! It was so much fun and I took a few videos of people singing along!

When the night ended in Bluu Bar we all headed to a bar in Printworks called Illusions I think which was a bit... well, it was OK but the bar woman was disgusting. She looked like a total tramp, knocked a drink over three people in our group and then gave them TWO drinks back (not three) and then had such a bad attitude with me I honestly wanted to hit her!! And I am not a violent person. Some people should NOT work with people, she was awful. We then headed up to the strip bar with ten random men we had acquired from Illusions and barted the doorman down from £10 per head entry to £5. Drinks were SO expensive... £10 for a double vodka! I stuck to my bottle of Stella (classy - I drank it in a glass and hid it when I wasn't drinking though) and then we got the hell outta there! We all walked down to Tiger Tiger but lovely Jo and her friends had to go home :( In Tiger Tiger me and Sinead took it upon ourselves to try and drink the bar out of sambucca, and we all had a good boogie. Paula to pack our suitcases and look after us, she's so lovely! Most girls had to get off, so me, Sinead, Liloo and Catherine went for some food and then went our seperate ways, with me and Sinead attempting to do some shopping - I say attempting because we both kept feeling like we were going to throw up, it is safe to say we regretted the amount we drank :/ we managed to get home and had another very funny train journey home!

I had an absolutley fantastic 'weekend' and want to once again thank Aussie for not only providing the best events and gifts ever, but making it possible for all us bloggers to meet up and become friends!

Sorry for the length of this post, I got carried away!

When Illamasqua released their last collection, Body Electrics, they so very kindly sent a few products in my direction and I'm so sorry I haven't blogged about it sooner!

It was a very nice suprise as I really didn't expect to receive anything, so when my brother told me I had a package at the Post Office waiting to be picked up I was intrigued...

Or more like a child at Christmas when I saw the saw of the box they had sent the goodies in! A quick look inside showed me what I had been sent - Not only one of the nail varnishes that was on my wishlist, but the 4 Colour Liquid Metal Palette - again, from my wishlist!

I was so happy! Few pics:

Force is just as gorgeous as I imagined it would be and looks fab on my toenails although I don't have a picture for you (no one needs to see that) and the palette is great too - although I need to play around with it more than I do and do some FOTD's for you :)

A few weeks later a large envelope dropped through the door for my attention...I didn't have a clue what it might be...

MORE goodies from Illamasqua! This time a gorgeous eyeshadow and pencil.

The eyeshadow is a gorgeous lilac colour in 'Fallen' which matches the nail varnish they sent me last Autumn [link]! I love purple eyemake up, especially at the moment, so looking forward to using this. There are a few eyeshadows on my Illamasqua wishlist that I have not got around to buying so I'm also pleased I received that so I can see if I like it first!

The penicil is in the colour 'Cane' and is a lemony shade, very pale yellow:

It's really creamy and seems to glide on easily; really want to practice with this and use this on an EOTD.

Thank you so much to Illamasqua for the products; I really am so grateful!

Has anyone else got these products - I'd be really interested to hear from anyone that has the Cane pencil to see what you did with it!

Aussie to the Rescue!

On 7 July Aussie held their Leeds 'Aussie To The Rescue' in the City Centre.

Firstly, it was amazing to have an event in Leeds - every other event I have been to (apart from the Aussie party in January) has been London or Manchester and it often means I have to turn down invitations too - it was ace to be able to finish work and get ready and then just walk to the train station to meet the other girls! I finish work at 5.30 and we were meeting at 6, so I thought I'd have a good half hour to get myself made up. I nipped into Superdrug in my lunch to buy some dry shampoo, following a conversation with Briony the night before about how, as I haven't had my hair died for a looooong time, I like to spray loads of dry shampoo on the roots and not rub it in properly, making my hair brighter! When I got there I saw the new Batiste - Silver Shimmer. I remembered reading a review on someones blog about how it was a bit crap and there wasn't a lot of glitter in it, so I picked it up. When I came to getting ready, after putting my clothes on the back of my chair and deciding to do my hair first, I sprayed in a LOT of the shampoo, not really concentrating, and then picked up the mirror. OMG. As Briony said when I text her in a major panic a second later (love the fact that the first thing I did was message someone, not sort it out) "Do you look like a fairy?!" YES. Yes I did. My hair was like a glitter bomb had gone off on it. You know those Lush bath bombs that are so deceiving - you don't even realise that there is a lot of glitter until you've got out of the bath and suddenly you're just COVERED? Yup, that was my head. And face. And clothes. And clothes on the back of the chair. And chair. And desk - you getting this? It was EVERYWHERE. I had to frantically try and get it off everything and fast, and still get made up and get to the train station. And of course, as soon as I walked out of the door it started to rain! I was starting to get really stressed out and panicky so just made my way to meet everyone, a little bit later than originally said. At the station I met the lovely girlies Sinead, Phoebe and Daisy and just after we'd got a drink Briony's train came in.

We made our way up to the Serviced Apartment the event was being held in - The Penthouse at The Chambers, half an hour earlier than we were told to, and just hoped it would be OK! Thankfully it was and we were shown into the gorgeous apartment and introduced to Lisa and Emma, the hair stylist Amber Rose, the make up artist Cassie and the personal stylist Stevey, not forgetting of course my favourite person of the night, Ian, the cocktail maker! Every time I put my empty glass down within two minutes a fresh one was put in front of me. I think it's fair to say I was more than a little tipsy!

The beautiful Liloo arrived shortly after us, and I think I fell a little bit in love with her! She is so adorably sweet - I was joking that she could stab somebody and she would still be cute and lovely, she's that nice. Finally Catherine arrived. Meanwhile, people began getting their hair done and make up, and speaking to Stevey about what clothes to wear!

The few pics I took of the night:

Sinead's 'Crimp'; Phoebe's finished 'Cheryl Cole'
Briony and the stylist and Sinead getting her make up done!

I was the last to get my hair done (way too busy talking the ears of Lisa and the other Angels...oh and drinking cocktails) and when I sat down Amber Rose couldn't believe the glitter in my head! It was so funny, I honestly don't know if I will use it again! She did a great job of my hair, I was too scared to go for something major like Sinead and The Crimp but I had mine curled - I just sat down and told her to do something good to it! After that I went and sat with Stevie and probably totally bored the life out of him because I spoke soooo much. I think I treated him like a therapist actually! But, lately I have been stuck in a bit of a clothes rut, not feeling confident etc etc, not bothering with accessories and such, and he kinda pulled me out of it, and I am so grateful to him! Since the event I have made an effort every day (almost...days when you've drank shots of 75% rum all night deserve you NOT to do anything but scrape your hair back and look bad) and I feel great for it. I don't feel really embarrassed at my figure anymore, yes, I need to lose some weight but in the meantime I have some amazing boobies that don't deserve to be covered up in baggy tops anymore!! We were talking so long that in the end when I sat down to get my make up done it was 10.45 and I remembered I hadn't checked my phone all mum was outside the building waiting to pick me up! So unfortunately I didn't get chance to get my make up done.

There was just enough time for our pictures to be taken a few more times before we all left (with some difficulty, we couldn't get out of the gate!!).

On the way out we were handed a lovely little goodie bag, containing some lovely bits:

I have used the blush every day since I received it, it's fabulous! I used to use a Rimmel cream blush all the time and this had reminded me way, they're so easy to pile on and look effortlessly shexy ;)

The lipgloss tastes GORGEOUS. What is it? Is it watermelon?! Someone who has it tell me!! I love the little applicator as well :)

and of course our lovely Aussie products which smell divine.

I had an absolutely fantastic night, and was left so excited for the next event on the 22 July in Manchester! My fellow Angels are all absolute darlings :)

Easy Tea

One of my favourite things to have for tea in summer is a warm chicken salad. In heat as hot as this week I really can't be bothered to go home and cook a proper tea, all I want to do is get home, open my windows as wide as possible and change into something cooler, pop something in for tea and just wait for it to be ready!

I'm really fussy about what type of lettuce I eat - it sounds stupid but I swear I can only eat baby spinach (as above) and iceberg lettuce! Red onion, cucumber and tomatoes make up the rest of this tea - I actually have always disliked tomatoes. Last weekend I went shopping and bought lots of fresh fruit and salad and for some reason the tomatoes just called out to me lol, I bought a couple and I actually think I like them! A warm piece of chicken and some baby new potatoes followed by some ranch dressing - makes the perfect week night tea after a long hot day at work.

I'm absolutely starving now looking at this picture! I'm being ultra greedy and getting a takeaway tonight and watching the football. Typical of me to get into the World Cup when it's reaching an end!

What are you lovely ladies doing with your weekends?
